Emile Heskey Predictions – 24 April 2018

UEFA Champions League 2017/18 Semi-Finals

Liverpool vs AS Roma

Realistically, these two teams have what it takes to make it to final of the Champions League. Liverpool have Salah, who only needs one good chance at goal and he’s almost sure to find the net.

However, Roma have Dzeko, plus an entire team that can not only prevent Barcelona from scoring, but also beat them 3-0. So if the Reds think they have an Egyptian trump card to help them in this tie, they don’t, simply because that is no longer a secret they can keep under wraps.

The Romans will have the capacity to shut him out, like they did Messi, and this means that Klopp will need an entirely new strategy to beat them – perhaps a Mourinho-esque bus tactic. Hit Roma on the break early on and defend the rest of the way. Or maybe even an approach that does not initially involve Salah at all – then bring him on late in the game to run riot amongst tired legs. There are no underdogs in this one.

Prediction: Liverpool 1-1 AS Roma

Real Madrid vs Bayern München

Bayern have always struggled to find a win against Real Madrid in recent memory – who could forget the last time these two European giants faced off in the Champions League quarter-final last year?

The German side would have to rely on Lewandowski to be in scoring form and the rest of the team to keep calm and not get sent off unnecessarily. However, Bayern will be without Neuer who’s still recovering from injury. Although this may seem like a huge dent to the Bundesliga champions’ chances, fellow German Ulreich has proven to be a proverbial brick wall in goal, but he hasn’t been tested against the likes of Real Madrid yet.

Los Blancos have a healthy and potent squad to work with and will surely feature the likes of Ronaldo, Isco and Benzema, or even Bale. Bayern need to be ultra-defensive to survive an onslaught, let alone win at the Bernabeu.

Prediction: Real Madrid 2-0 Bayern München
