Newcastle 1-2 Arsenal (EPL – Matchday 5)

Benitez’s strategy was to close down Arsenal at St. James’ Park, and that saw the Spaniard field a changed line up.

Both Murphy and Joselu proved worthy additions as, along with Perez, as the home side went about forcing the Gunners into errors. However Newcastle, tired from their early exertions, were unable to have the same impact on the match in the second half as Xhaka’s moment of quality forced them to chase a result – leaving more space for Arsenal to play.

With the opener, Emery’s men looked increasingly comfortable and this lead to Ozil’s cool finish to double the visitors’ lead. Clark responded in stoppage time for the hosts, however Arsenal were able to see out the game as they look somewhat comfortable adapting to Emery’s philosophy.
